Open enrollment begins November 15, 2014

10/29/2014

This year the annual open enrollment period (the time when individuals who purchase their own health insurance policy can make changes to their plans or change insurance companies) will begin on November 15, 2014 and will last until February 15, 2015.

If individuals would like their plans to start on January 1, 2015 then they need to be sure that they have their enrollment completed by December 15, 2014.

Many people who enrolled through Cover Oregon during last year's first open enrollment period have already received notices that their plan through Cover Oregon is being discontinued. This may be for one of a couple of reasons:

1. Your plan will still be available in 2015, but is no longer available through Cover Oregon because Cover Oregon is going away effective December 31, 2014. This is the most common reason you received this notice. All plans that were originally placed through Cover Oregon will need to be re-enrolled and go through this website or the Federal Facilitated Marketplace starting November 15, 2014 (found at healthcare.gov). In order to continue to receive tax credits you will need to place your plan through this website or the Federal Facilitated Marketplace before December 15, 2014 in order to prevent a gap in your insurance coverage.

2. Your plan is being discontinued by your insurance company. This is also happening to several enrollees. In order to resolve this, you will just need to pick a new plan that is being offered by the same or a different insurance company before December 15, 2014 in order to prevent a gap in your insurance coverage.

In order to resolve either of these situations, you can re-enroll in a plan that will be available in 2015 by clicking the button below to start the process or you can visit healthcare.gov for more information. If you are seeking a tax credit to help pay your health insurance premium, you must enroll through either this website or the Federal Facilitated Marketplace at healthcare.gov. You will not be able to go to the insurance company direct to purchase your policy if you want to receive tax credits. If you do not want to apply for tax credits to help pay your health insurance premium, you can go directly to the insurance company of your choice. We can also help you in your search for the best health insurance rates and help you to apply directly to the insurance company of your choice if you call us at (800) 969-2851. We look forward to serving you!
